Objectives of The Lancashire Playing Fields Association

The LPFA exists to:

  • Encourage participation in and enthusiasm for sport recreation and physical activities
  • Protect, preserve and where possible provide playing space for sport and physical activities

How does the LPFA achieve this:

  • Grant support to Association members for a variety of schemes (grants are limited though and sums are in hundreds rather than thousands).
  • Capital grant funds for equipment purchases or contribution to building schemes or land purchase.
  • Assist financially towards organised community holiday schemes for sports, recreation and physical activities to aid purchase of equipment, hire of space, coaching staff.
  • Support grants for young sports persons, under 17 years, who have a talent and ability to perform at County level and beyond.
  • Offer support and technical advice to members drawing on the expertise of the Committee. Subjects ranging from information on other grants available, planning advice, machinery and maintenance advice, insurance queries, contact details for other organisations.

At what cost does the LPFA offer all this:

  • For an annual subscription fee of just £11 from members such as Sports Clubs, Parish Councils. The County Council’s continued support provides a large percentage of the annual funds required along with support from 13 of the Lancashire district authorities.
